Deep Tissue Massage is a technique that focuses on the deep layers of muscle tissue. It helps to refresh and relax tight muscles increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around the body.
The massage movements are slower and the pressure is deeper compared to that used in the Relaxation massage. A variety of movements are used, knuckles, hands, elbows and forearms during this massage.
When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissues. The focus of the massage is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
A deep tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues. It is important to drink plenty of water after the massage to ensure you are properly hydrated. This can also help the body to flush out toxins.
